A cottage opposite the old Brooks Farmhouse, occupied by Jack Heal and his sister Annie Heal, burnt down due to an old beam smouldering in the fireplace and spreading. The Sturminster fire engine was of little use as it was frozen.Source: Violet Lodder, c.1970 |
