Saints Hill - Cottages built

Year 1828

Three cottages built at Saints Hill. Two cottages were later demolished, leaving one on the site, which was extended in 1950 and 1994 and stands today.

Violet Lodder wrote c. 1970 ...
"Saints Hill was once three cottages ... each with a central heating stack ... the upstairs rooms would be very low, not much over four feet in height, so that one climbed the steep stair or ladder and literally crawled into bed. The cottage at the top was No.1, the the middle one No.2 and the bottom No.3
In 1908 Jerry Spencer and his wife lived in No. 2, and Sammy Jeans and his wife in No.1, with the Rose family in No.3. Later a George Elkins and his wife, who was Eva Rose, Lived there with their family of four children."
